Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour Could Outearn Taylor Swift’s Eras by $500 Million

The world’s most famous pop star could clear nearly $2.1 billion from her upcoming Renaissance World Tour, which is already poised to outearn Taylor Swift’s Eras World Tour by $500 million. Forbes estimates that Beyonce’s new run across the globe will earn the “Formation” singer $275 million to $2.4 billion in ticket sales by September when the show wraps up, and it may even surpass her highest-grossing tours ever.

Forbes bases its eye-popping estimates on the most optimistic assumptions of the number of fans buying tickets at their concerts, as well as high average ticket prices of around $700. It also assumes that the artists take home a considerable share of merchandise proceeds and pay tour expenses, which typically amount to about 20% of total revenues.

Even though Beyonce and Taylor Swift have a considerable fan base, their merchandising strategies differ significantly. The magazine notes that Beyonce’s sponsors – such as CITI and Verizon – help her generate more ticket revenue. The Houston native’s production company, Parkwood Entertainment, and her promotion agency Live Nation also keep a larger share of the money than they do for Swift. Additionally, she probably has more brand loyalty from her fans than Swift does from hers and can command a higher price tag for merch items.

Beyonce’s last two world tours, her On The Run II and Formation tours, brought in $256 million and $253 million, respectively. And while the COVID-19 pandemic and the music industry’s current state helped her previous shows to rake in such massive sums, her Renaissance may finally make Beyonce top all her previous performances.

The first leg of Beyonce’s Renaissance tour kicked off this week in Stockholm, and it’s expected to be one of the most successful tours of the year. As a result, Forbes estimates that she’ll pull in between $275 million and $2.4 billion from ticket sales alone by the time the show wraps up in New Orleans on September 27.

How Much Does Beyonce Make Each Night On The Road?

Performing in arenas that can hold up to 60,000 people, Beyonce can expect to pull in roughly $5-$10 million per night. The $200 average ticket estimate means she’ll earn between $6 million and $12 million each evening on the tour.

The runaway earnings speak to the pent-up demand for tickets caused by the long wait between tours and the thirst for live events post-Covid-19. And if her new shows are anything like her incredible performance at Coachella, Beyonce should prove that she is still the queen of live music.
