Xiaomi is on the verge of launching a new smart display in the pipeline that would compete with the likes of Amazon Echo Show 8 and Google Next Hub. If the recent leaks are anything to go by, the smart display will debut as the Xiaomi Smart Display Speaker Pro 8 or XiaoAI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8. Images released by the online leak suggest Xiaomi will make use of the same aesthetics and design language used by Google in building Next Hub smart displays. Therefore, you should not be surprised if the display comes with a white color option and a touchscreen panel at the front.
According to the recent online leaks, Xiaomi’s new smart display tends to boast of a display panel with thick bezels not forgetting the camera sensor for video calls. Furthermore, it has a speaker at the back that seems to have a mesh-like covering. The leaks posted on China’s tech news portal ITHome also show the smart display comes with three passive diaphragms and is powered by Hi-Fi audio chip. To make it even better, Xiaomi smart display would also provide DTS audio tuning for an improved audio experience.
Even though Xiaomi is yet to turn down or confirm the leaks, a 3C certification showing the development of XiaoAI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 has already surfaced. The company allegedly received certification in November thus acting as proof of its imminent launch. Xiaomi Smart Display is expected to carry a price tag of CNY 599, which is roughly Rs.6, 100. This is quite fascinating when compared to the price of other smart displays in the market.
Unfortunately, details regarding the official launch date and availability are yet to be announced by the company. Keep in mind that Xiaomi makes use of its XiaoAI brand in offering smart assistance to Chinese users. Well, this is no different from how Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa serve global audiences. For now, we only have to wait for the official confirmation from Xiaomi regarding the new smart display that is set to hit the market soon.
