Xiaomi’s Mi TV Range Expected to See Price Hikes

The prices of Xiaomi TV range is expected to rise soon. This is attributed to the rise in price of LCD display, a component that plays an important role in the manufacture cost of TVs. If recent leaks are anything to go with, the price hike will be in the region of CNY 100 TO CNY 300. The leaks suggest the price hike may happen as soon as August 28. It is also anticipated that the prices of TV models from other brands may also rise, due to the continuous price hike on LCD display panels.

The rise in LCD display price may be due to the increased demand as the festival season nears. ‘There was a breakdown in supply chain due to COVID-19. So, supplies were interrupted and now we are getting into preparations for the festive season, hence demand is surging. This has triggered the price rise. Not just for LCD panels, but it should affect other major components as well,” Faisal Kawoosa, an analyst from TechArc said. “Also, once a year prices are revised for all components which typically happens around this period,” Kawoosa added.

As per reports from TrendForce, a market research firm, 55-inch panels and 32-inch panels in particular will see a projected price hike of about 10% in the month of August alone. Other panels including 65-inch and 75-inch panels are expected to witness a price rice of 5-10 percent and 1-2 percent respectively.

Well Xiaomi TV lovers who are looking forward to getting a new one should be more than ready to dig deeper into their pockets if they are to get their hands on the desired TV. This may not come as  good news especially at a time when people are going through a hard time financially.
